About Lisa
Estate planning is where Lisa found her calling: helping people understand how the pieces of a plan fit together, then making thoughtful decisions that serve the people behind the paperwork.

A practical way to see the work
I look under the hood, figure out how all the pieces of your estate plan work together, identify what could break down, and help design a plan built for the road ahead.
My formal identity is Lisa J. Allen, Attorney at Law. I’m licensed in New York and Georgia, and I primarily serve New York clients through in-person meetings in Buffalo and virtual meetings.
Why this work matters
Lisa’s philosophy was shaped by the death of her sister at only 44, leaving two minor children. It reinforced something she already believed: estate planning isn’t really about documents, it’s about the people who are left behind.
After decades of practice across multiple areas of law, Lisa found estate planning to be the place where her skills and values met. It brings together careful legal work, education, and the human conversations that help families make decisions before someone else has to make them for you.
Her lifelong enthusiasm for automobiles is authentic context, not a gimmick. She has always been interested in how individual parts work together, how small details affect the whole, and what careful maintenance makes possible. That same respect for connection and craftsmanship informs her planning work.
How we work together
Lisa’s approach is warm, direct, and educational. She wants you to understand the reasoning behind the plan and feel able to ask the next question.
You deserve to understand your options before you are asked to choose among them.
The right planning conversation makes room for your family, relationships, responsibilities, and questions.
Documents are only useful when the people and practical details around them fit together.
A plan may need another look as your family, health, work, property, or wishes change.
The relationship continues
The work is collaborative. We make room for the family dynamics, property, work, health decisions, and questions that shape your life in New York and beyond.
You should be able to explain what your plan does and why it fits.
Documents, ownership, beneficiaries, and people all need to tell the same story.
You do not need a perfect binder or every answer before a conversation.
A thoughtful next step
